- Biography:
- John Griffiths, Us Weekly's sole Television Critic from December 2003 to March 2017, has more recently contributed to The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' Emmy magazine, as well as AARP magazine and its TV for Grownups vertical. • He is currently Executive Director of GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics and CGEM: Critics Groups for Equality in Media, an alliance of under-represented entertainment journalists he founded in 2008. • Born in Los Angeles, John earned a B.A. in journalism from the University of Southern California. He spent seven years as a Special Correspondent for People magazine and later was the Senior Arts & Entertainment Editor for The Advocate and a Contributing Editor for Women's Health magazine, where he booked celebrity covers and inside profiles. • He's also a veteran celebrity journalist himself, having notched cover stories on the likes of Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Garner, Keanu Reeves and Courteney Cox for magazines such as TV Guide, InStyle, Cosmopolitan and Glamour. • His passion for TV dates back to his childhood, when he created fall programming schedules with made-up shows for his own imaginary network (he was president, of course, and 'The Lee Majors Variety Hour' was a big hit). • In this reality, his current must-sees include 'Alex Wagner Tonight,' 'Fareed Zakaria GPS,' 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,' anything with Nathan Fielder, and one 'Dateline' after another.
