- Juan M Fernández-Paris has always had a passion for movies. His first memory is being in a movie theater watching a rerelease of Bedknobs and Broomsticks. His passion turned professional after completing a Bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of Puerto Rico and then an MFA in Film Production at Chapman University in Orange County California. Fernández-París started writing reviews professionally at El Nuevo Día in Puerto Rico, in 2001 and has been their film critic for more than 13 years. He landed in front of TV cameras when he was lucky enough to be assigned to cover the junket for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The producers of “Tu Mañana”, the highest rated morning news show at Univision Puerto Rico, were so pleased with his work that he became a regular film critic and entertainment correspondent there from 2002-2006. His film reviews gained popularity on prime time during a four year run in And a Pal Cara, also at Univision Puerto Rico. But the culmination of all his efforts in this field, came about when he was given the opportunity to host and produce “De Película”, a one hour movie show that features his reviews, list and interviews with the top of the film industry. The show airs nationally in the US through Wapa America.
