- Lynn (Zipfel) Venhaus has had a continuous byline in St. Louis metro region publications since 1978, working at daily newspapers and in community news. She writes features and news for Belleville News-Democrat and contributes to St. Louis Magazine and other publications. A lifelong certified movie nut, she is a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic, currently reviews films for Webster-Kirkwood Times (9 years), KTRS Radio (8 years), and Alliance of Women Film Journalists, covers entertainment for PopLifeSTL.com (6 years) and co-hosts podcast PopLifeSTL.com…Presents. For the daily newspaper Belleville News-Democrat, she reviewed film and theatre for 18 years’ total until parent company McClatchy Newspapers discontinued reviews nationwide in 2017. In addition to being a member of the Critics Choice Association (on the women and marketing committees), she is a member of the Alliance of Women Film Journalists and on the board of the St. Louis Film Critics Association. She is a founding member and on the board of the St. Louis Theater Circle. She is retired from teaching journalism/media as an adjunct college instructor at three different schools. She currently lives in the city of St. Louis and grew up in Belleville, Ill. She is the mother of two sons, Charlie Venhaus, who lives in Brooklyn, NY, and the late Tim Venhaus (1984-2018). In December 2023, she added published author to her credits. She contributed to the Amazon best-selling anthology Ageless Glamour Girls: Reflections on Aging. Her chapter: "You Are Not Alone: Dealing with Grief and Loss."
