- Biography:
- Wakako Miya Rollinger has been a film columnist for the Japanese newspaper Okinawa Times for more than thirty years. Earlier in her career, she was a producer for Tokyo Television’s popular weekly entertainment program Cinematic Reports, where she covered many premieres and junkets, traveling to international film festivals including Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, as well as independent film festivals and events like ComiCon. Her relationship with the Godzilla franchise is similarly long; she has consulted with Tōhō, Japan’s largest film studio, on marketing and publicity events. US work includes working as liaison with Warner Bros and other major studios. Japanese client projects include work on NHK specials on classic Hollywood film stars such as Ingrid Bergman, and Academy Awards specials for NTV’s NewsZero. She holds an MA in Cinema Studies from NYU and has lectured at Ryukyu University about Hollywood gender and race inequality. She presently lives in Topanga, California where she regularly enjoys nature and hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains.
