- Biography:
- As an anchor/reporter at ABC News Radio for almost five decades, Bill Diehl has interviewed some of the biggest names in showbiz. By the early 1980s he was covering all the major award shows: the Oscars, Emmys, Grammys and Tonys. In his memoir Stay Tuned My Life Behind the Mic, he recalls anecdotes from his broadcaster's journey, which began as a teenage DJ in Corning, NY, where his romance with radio was sparked. As an ABC entertainment correspondent, he still regularly contributes to the network's weekly magazine show, Perspective. During his career he has interviewed many of the greatest Hollywood and Broadway stars, including Lauren Bacall, Tony Bennett, Cher, Sean Connery, Jane Fonda, Tom Hanks, Stephen King, Mary Tyler Moore, Bernadette Peters, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Robin Williams, Barbara Walters and Regis Philbin. Cinema Retro Editor-in-Chief Lee Pfeiffer, says his memoir "is a literary time machine that both informs and delights." During the 90’s I was reviewing movies weekly for ABC News Radio. Currently I still, when I have an opportunity, do some profiles of movie stars and their films on my Facebook page. Most recently, Renee Zellweger who is starring as Judy Garland in the new film ‘Judy.’ My love of the movies has never faded and I’m proud to be a charter original member of the BFCA, the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
