- Biography:
- A lifelong movie fiend, Milan graduated from NYU with a double major in Cinema Studies and Journalism. After graduation, he moved back to his home town of Youngstown, Ohio where he worked as film critic for the town's daily newspaper, The Vindicator, for many years, winning three SPJ (Society of Professional Journalists) awards as "Best Critic in Ohio" in the process. While employed at the Vindicator, he also freelanced for two Cleveland, Ohio alt-weeklies, the Free Times (owned by the former Village Voice syndicate) and the Scene. In 2001, Milan began reviewing films on Youngstown's CBS and FOX affiliates. It was through his television gig that he first became a member of the BFCA. Since 2015, he's hosted a weekly half-hour movie program, "Pick of the Flicks," for iHeart Media's WMXY-FM (Mix.989), while contributing reviews of current films and home video releases for WMXY and its in-house affiliate stations. Milan also teaches film history at Youngstown State University, a position he's held as auxiliary professor since Fall 2004.
