- Biography:
- John Griffiths, Us Weekly's sole Television Critic from December 2003 to March 2017, is a regular contributor to Emmy magazine (the publication of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences) as well as AARP magazine and its TV for Grownups vertical. • John is also Executive Director and founder of GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics and CGEM: Critics Groups for Equality in Media, an alliance of under-represented entertainment journalists. • Born in Los Angeles, John earned a B.A. in journalism from the University of Southern California. He spent seven years as a Special Correspondent for People magazine and later was the Senior Arts & Entertainment Editor for The Advocate and a Contributing Editor for Women's Health magazine. He's also a well-regarded celebrity profile writer, having notched cover stories on the likes of Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Garner and Courteney Cox for magazines such as TV Guide, InStyle, Cosmopolitan and Glamour. • His passion for TV dates back to his childhood, when he created fall programming schedules with made-up shows for his own imaginary network (he was president, of course, and The Lee Majors Variety Hour was a big hit). • His current real must-watches are Alex Wagner Tonight, Fareed Zakaria GPS, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and one Dateline after another.
